2019 – on / Rotating graduate student / Stanford University

2012 – 2018 / Bsc in Agronomy / Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil

Willian got his bachelor’s in Agronomy at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil. Five years ago, he did a summer internship at Carnegie in the Dinneny Lab, where he studied the development of Setaria viridis root system under drought conditions. Now he is back as a rotating first-year student in the Biology Program at Stanford. He is broadly interested in understanding the mechanisms by which plants respond and adapt to abiotic changes to their environment. In the Moi lab, he wants to understand the multi-dimensional phenotypes underlying fitness under drought, both at the individual and allelic level.
